Work With Me - brown's photography

about me

Hi and welcome!  I'm Morag, the principal photographer and owner of brown's photography,

I have over 10 years of photography experience and a degree in photography from Napier University in Edinburgh.

I caught the shutterbug for weddings the first time I photographed one.  I loved the fast pace, the people, the dresses, the kilts, the suits, the hats, the shoes, the energy and yes, I even loved the pressure.  So, after working as a staff photographer for various studios and photography companies, I decided to march to my own beat and set up brown's photography.  I figured I would get more interesting and personal weddings that way.  And I do! (wedding pun alert).

Things I like are being outside, near water, moving around, laying still, walking, running, daydreaming and going on trains and boats. I like dogs and cats, books,  old buildings, Scottish islands and old record sleeves. I especially love time spent with my wee family.  (as in there's not a lot of us rather than we are all very small).

But really, I hope that if you've come this far and you've seen my portfolio and blog, you'll like what I do and how I do it and go ahead and contact me.

how it all works

I photograph your wedding day as a story.

I'll probably take the last photo of you as a single person and the first as a married one.

I want the photographs of your wedding day to mean as much to you as mine do to me and I treasure mine.

I'll photograph you chatting with friends, laughing with each other, relaxing with your family, exchanging your wedding vows, cutting your cake, getting emotional at the speeches, walking together, embracing and experiencing the first day of your married life. I do all this with a very relaxed and friendly style, so you'll hardly notice I'm there most of the time.  I love to look for the personal moments of your day and will give you a beautiful selection of images of you, your friends and family experiencing and enjoying your individual wedding day.

I can offer a tailored quote for your wedding and am just as happy to quote for a 2 hour elopement as I am for a full day and evening wedding.   I have a basic coverage cost and you can then choose to add on an album; a photobook; extra time for dancing; a second photographer or stay with the digital only service and have your images supplied on a usb drive - you choose what you want and need and I'll put together a quote for you.

Please contact me with details of your wedding and I'll send over the link to my wedding magazine with all the information you need:

answers to some questions

Do you travel? I travel within Scotland and the UK only at the moment as  I have a young daughter and I try not to be too far away from home too often.

Do you take family group shots? Absolutely.  These are the ones that are passed down through a family's generations - I love them!  I'll direct you quickly and easily so we can achieve the best pictures in the shortest space of time and usually advise you limit these to six groups.

Are you insured? Yes.

How many photos will we get on our usb? A minimum of 300 and there's no maximum limit.  It really all depends on how much time we have on the day to take photographs and what coverage you choose to have.

Can our guests take photos too? Certainly.

Do we get the copyright for the photos? No, I retain the copyright but you do have full permission to reproduce, print and copy the images for your own non-commercial use.

How can our wedding guests see the pictures? I put them on a password protected online web gallery.

When will our photos be ready?  Six to eight weeks after the wedding date.

Can we meet you to check you out?  Yes, I have a lovely workspace in the old Templeton Carpet Factory near Glasgow Green and love to chat all things wedding.  Meetings are appointment only though, as I'm often out taking photographs.

How many weddings do you photograph each year? I take a limited number of wedding bookings per year as I invest a lot of time and work photographing, meeting, editing, processing and album designing your wedding images.

How do we book you? Please email or call me to check I'm still available as dates can go fast and, if I am free, secure your date with me by completing a booking form and your booking payment of £400.  The balance of your payment is then payable 21 days before your wedding date.
